Yoga Shalom to be Published by URJ Press
It's official. Yoga Shalom, the spiritual journey of worship and yoga created by Lisa and developed with Yoga Instructor Carol Krucoff has been accepted for publication by the URJ Press. The book/CD/DVD is set to release in fall of 2011. Watch for details!
Temple Shalom Kicks Off Jubilee Year
Temple Shalom celebrates the beginning of our 50th Year with a spectacular worship service honoring our founders and leadership. The TSY Youth Choir is seen here warming up with Lisa. The service featured both Youth and Shir Shalom Adult Choirs singing together and backed by members of the Shabbat Ruach Band. One highlight was the debut of Lisa's new song L'dor Vador written especially for the occasion.
TSY Choir Wows at D.C. Youth Choir Festival
The TSY (Temple Shalom Youth) Choir wowed the crowed at the recent D.C. area Cantor's Youth Choir Zimriya held at the Gesher School in Fairfax, VA. The choir sang two songs by Lisa and their great sound and professional look were appreciated by all. Yasher koach to all the participants. Youth Shall See Visions was great!
Concert at Leisure World for B'nai B'rith
Lisa was recently invited to sing her concert "My Songs For The Jews of Cuba" for the Leisure World B'nai B'rith meeting. A large enthusiastic audience gathered to hear the story of her missions to Cuba along with many of the Ladino, Yiddish and Hebrew folk songs that make up her CD recorded especially to raise money for the B'nai B'rith International Jewish Cuban Relief Fund.
MLK Service Brings Community Together
The MLK Commemoration Service at Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase brought the entire community together for a celebration and remembrance of Dr. King's writings and his legacy. Featuring the Shir Shalom Adult and TSY Youth Choirs along with the Shabbat Ruach Band and Gospel Youth Choir "Kids LEAD" under the direction of Tony Small the service was filled with Jospel, Gospel and all kinds of spirit that moved us!
Yoga Shalom Returns to M'kor Shalom
Lisa returned for an encore presentation of "Yoga Shalom" to a large crowd last Shabbat. The participants are part of M'kor Shalom's New Dimensions Shabbat Program which occur monthly.Yoga Shalom is soon to be published by the URJ Press.
Cuba Captivates the Heart
Once again the people and land of Cuba have captivated and captured our hearts and imaginations. The highlights of our trip included: Sunday morning songleading and visiting with the children of the religious school at the Patronato and our much anticipated Patronato concert given by Cantors Levine and Perlman accompanied by pianist Paul Binko, guitarist Michael Greenebaum and percussionist Michael Olivera of the famous Cuban band Sintesis. Copies of "Mis Canciones Para Los Judios de Cuba" the CD recorded and created especially by Lisa to benefit the B'nai Brith Cuban Jewish Relief fund were given as a gift to each family present. Proceeds from CD sales support the B'nai B'rith Jewish Cuban Relief Fund. Lisa will be returning to Cuba on her third Mission, December 9th 2009.

Music That Makes Community
| Voices rising in song at one of the holiest sites in the country marked the transformational Music That Makes Community Paperless Music Project Conference that Lisa attended a few weeks ago. Held at St. Paul's Chapel on the lip of ground zero, the MMC Conference was attended by clergy and church musicians from around the country.Lisa's song Spirits Rising is part of the project. |
Des Moines Diversity Chorus' 10th Anniversary
| Lisa recently celebrated 10 years of music and diverse programming with the chorus she helped to found and was guest conductor with:The Des Moines Diversity Chorus under the direction of Elsie Naylor. Lisa was honored to have been invited to be guest artist at their fall concert at First Christian Church hosted by her good friend Ben Allaway. Lisa debuted "Sing A New Song" themed on the environment. Many of the Interfaith music that Lisa has written over the years were created for the Des Moines Diversity Chorus. Thank you so much to Elsie for her 10 years of service to the choir and all the good friends who came out for the concert (see the photos for pics). May our mission continue and may our prayers for peace and justice for the world be fulfilled! |

Behold How Good at 5th Annual Novashir Concert
Lisa was the special guest artist at the 5th Annual Novashir concert this past Sunday May 20th at the Harris Theatre in Fairfax, VA. Carol Boyd Leon organized and conducted many of the choirs with Adrian Durlester on piano. Five groups from Washington area choirs participated in a most enjoyable afternoon of music.
